Let Me Reintroduce Myself: Julie Kavanagh, Owner of Aspire College Auditions
With this new chapter for Aspire College Auditions, this feels like the perfect moment to pause and reintroduce myself — and share a little about the path that brought me here!
Hi! I’m Julie Kavanagh — performer, educator, Aspire program director, sushi 🍣and Jurassic Park 🦖super fan.
And now… the new owner of Aspire College Auditions.
For the past decade, I’ve had the joy of helping students and families navigate the musical theatre college audition process. From going through the MT college audition journey myself (I graduated with my BFA in Musical Theatre from CCM — the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music), to guiding students and families through it, to continuing to work professionally in the industry, I’ve had the chance to experience this process from many different sides of the table.
My own career has taken me all over the country. I’ve had the privilege of touring on three Broadway First National Tours — Mrs. Doubtfire, Hello, Dolly!, and La Cage Aux Folles — and performing at regional theatres across the United States. Along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to play dream roles, understudy principal characters, serve as a dance captain, and even step into the creative side of the room as an Assistant Choreographer.
I’ve also spent years in studios and rehearsal rooms working with young artists.
Aspire is where all of those passions meet.
Helping Students Navigate the Musical Theatre College Audition Process
Experience From Every Side of the Audition Room
Having experienced the musical theatre college audition process as a student — and having guided many students through it — I understand how many moving pieces families are trying to navigate. From researching musical theatre programs to organizing audition requirements, dates, and deadlines to preparing and filming MT prescreens, the process can become complicated very quickly.
My goal with Aspire College Auditions is to help students and families approach auditions with clarity and confidence, alleviating added stress and pressure and allowing their passion and personality to shine.
The Next Chapter of Aspire
I’m so grateful to the BVC community for building such an incredible foundation and for welcoming me with open arms. It’s an honor to be entrusted with this next chapter of Aspire, and I can’t wait to continue supporting students and families through the college audition journey.
If you’re beginning to think about musical theatre college auditions — or even wondering where to start — Aspire exists to make the process clearer, more intentional, and far less overwhelming.
I can’t wait to see where this next chapter takes us. ❤️
